What is TopMap Solutions?
TopMap Solutions is a public-facing company website designed to present the company’s GIS, CAD, land information, and spatial data solutions while also serving as a content management platform for its day-to-day operations.
The website communicates how TopMap Solutions helps local governments, organizations, and other clients transform fragmented land parcel documents, CAD drawings, planning data, infrastructure information, and public assets into accurate, connected, and usable GIS solutions.
The platform includes company information, services, project case studies, technical capabilities, and other content that can be managed and updated through the CMS without requiring changes directly to the website’s code.
How was it built?
The website was architected using Django following the MVC-style application structure, with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript used to build the public-facing interface.
For content management, Wagtail CMS was integrated into the Django application, allowing case studies, project information, and other website content to be created and maintained through an administrative interface.
The platform also includes an automated email responder for handling website inquiries and improving communication with potential clients.
For deployment, the application runs on a VPS and uses GitHub Actions to automate the CI/CD workflow. Changes pushed to the repository can be tested and deployed through the pipeline, reducing repetitive manual deployment work and making updates faster and more consistent.
The VPS-based deployment also keeps the infrastructure relatively simple and cost-efficient. Instead of relying on multiple managed services for hosting and deployment, the application is consolidated into a controlled server environment, helping reduce recurring infrastructure costs while maintaining the flexibility needed for the company's operations.

Project Approach
The overall system was intentionally kept simple and maintainable. The goal was not to build an unnecessarily complex platform, but to create a reliable public-facing website that supports TopMap Solutions' daily operations, communicates its technical services clearly, and provides a flexible CMS for continuously publishing new projects and case studies.
The deployment workflow was also designed with efficiency in mind. By combining a VPS with GitHub Actions, the project achieves a practical balance between automation, deployment speed, infrastructure control, and recurring cost efficiency.
This project demonstrates the practical use of Django, Wagtail, CI/CD, and VPS deployment to build a company platform that functions as both a public website and a manageable content system for ongoing business operations.
